Montgomery County Courthouse
The $3.6 million courthouse project provides a new home for all court-related offices in Montgomery County. The 33,000 square foot three-story building houses the Circuit Clerk, State's Attorney, Public Defender, Probation, and Emergency Services/Disaster Agency departments, as well as the County Coroner, Public Building Commission, County Law Library, court facilities and support spaces. As a part of this project, a tunnel was constructed between the Montgomery County Jail and the new courthouse to provide the transport of prisoners from one facility to the other without coming in contact with the public or leaving a secure facility. The prisoners are brought into the center of the court complex via a secure elevator and placed in a holding room before entering the courtrooms.
Additional security measures include a card-key access system limiting access time and movement around secure portions of the building. Metal detection systems, as well as closed circuit television, were also provided.
The Hurst-Rosche team provided all architectural, engineering, fire alarm system, and interior design services, which included approximately $220,000 of furnishings, equipment and art work for public areas, as well as landscape design, construction administration and testing services.
