Hurst-Rosche has been awarded an American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC) 2015 Engineering Excellence Honor Award. This award recognizes projects for exceptional engineering that meet the needs of the client and benefit the public welfare.
Hurst-Rosche was recognized for the Otter Lake Water Treatment Plant UV Treatment project. The project consisted of the design and construction of a 3.5 MGD Ultraviolet Light-Advanced Oxidation Process to provide disinfection and taste and odor control for the Otter Lake Water Commission located in Macoupin County, just west of Girard, Illinois. This project was the first of its type to be approved in the State of Illinois and the second system to be constructed in the United States in a water treatment facility.
