Hurst-Rosche Engineers, Inc. has recent and extensive experience in
elevated and ground level storage systems for potable water. Our experience
ranges from designing a new elevated tank for the State of Illinois’
Department of Corrections (photo on right), to inspecting and specifying
repairs and painting of existing storage tanks. Specific design tasks
include altitude valve control, distribution pressure, modeling
structures, welding repairs, pumping telemetry controls, and sizing
of tanks to match distribution demands.
Prepared plans, specifications and performed construction observation
for replacement of approximately 3,500 lineal feet of 2-inch waterline
with 6-inch waterline.
These tasks were performed on tanks located at:
- Graham Correctional Facility
- Vienna Correctional Facility
- City of Sorento
- City of Raymond
- City of Keyesport
- Village of Schram City
- City of Worden
- City of Hillsboro
- Commonfields of Cahokia Public Water District
Additional Water Transmission / Distribution Projects
Waterline Replacement
Schram City, Illinois
Prepared plans, specifications and performed construction observation
for replacement of approximately 3,500 lineal feet of 2-inch waterline
with 6-inch waterline.
Sauget Industrial Park
Sauget, Illinois
Prepared plans and specifications for approximately 6,000 lineal feet of
12-inch waterline for new industrial park near Bi-State Airiport.
Pinnacle Point Subdivision
Glenn Shoals Lake
Hillsboro, Illinois
Prepared plans and specifications for approximately 20,000 lineal feet of
6-inch water main to serve new subdivision.
Illinois Route 127 Water Line Extension
Greenville, Illinois
Hurst-Rosche Engineers, Inc. is providing all standard engineering
services for extension of an eight-inch water main south along Illinois
Route 127 to a point just south of Greenville Airport, including project
design, surveying, specifications, bidding supervision and bid
recommendations, and engineering/ construction supervision.
White Subdivision
Hillsboro, Illinois
Prepared plans and specifications for approximately 5,000 lineal feet of
6-inch water main in new subdivision.
Water Survey
Commonfields of Cahokia, Illinois
Hurst-Rosche is currently preparing plans and specifications for the
construction of a 24-inch waterline to supply treated water to the
District from the St. Louis City water supply. The 24-inch water line
will be placed under the Mississippi River by directional boring methods.

Treatment Systems Evaluation and Capital Improvement Feasibility Study
Study all treatment processes including raw water supply (impoundment) for
treatment extensions, increased capacity, upgrade potential and related
costs. The distribution system was also reviewed in terms of conveyance
limits, pumping and telemetry controls. A three million dollar capital program
was initiated as a result of this study as well as a treatment plant
increased capacity rating by EPA.

Water Transmission Main and 1,000,000 Gallon Elevated Water Storage Tank
Design and construction administration of a nine mile 16” diameter water
transmission main. The project also included a 1 million gallon elevated water
storage tank constructed of reinforced concrete and steel. Computer
aided hydraulic analysis were performed to verify tank and line sizing. All
surveying easement plats and staking were also performed by Hurst-Rosche
Engineers, Inc.
Well Supply and Distribution System
Raymond, Illinois
Raymond, a village of 950, receives water from a well supply. Hurst-Rosche
has designed the wells, studied hydrology, and studied alternatives for new
well locations all for the purpose of developing an additional municipal water
supply resource. Hurst-Rosche has also been involved with well water treatment
in Raymond with sequestration being the primary process used. Hurst-Rosche
has designed several projects to extend 6-inch mains into new subdivisions
and to serve commercial development. Recently completed was the design
plans and specifications for a 150,000 gallon elevated water storage
tank (as seen on right) and appurtenances as well as a new well including
test well, structure over the well, feed equipment, 6” PC main, radio
controls and site work for the City of Raymond.
Water and Sewage System Improvements
Greenville, Illinois
The City of Greenville replaced a 14-inch force main, a gravity relief
sewer, pump station, and installing water line in 13 areas. Hurst-Rosche
Engineers, Inc. provided all standard engineering services including
project design, surveying, specifications, bidding supervision and bid
recommendations, and engineering/construction supervision.
Rehabilitation of Water Treatment Plant
Hillsboro, Illinois
Prepared plans, specifications and performed construction observation
for rehabilitation of water treatment plant. Improvements included new
sand filters, flocculator and clearwell. Rehabilitation included settling
basins, piping and automation of controls. Capacity was increased from
2mgd to 3.5 mgd.
Water Treatment and Distribution System
Improvements and additions
Hillsboro, Illinois
Construction of 2 million gallon per day water treatment plant with high
service pumps; 7,500 lin. ft. of 14" water line; 2,000 lineal feet of
4" - 12" distribution piping with related valves and hydrants. Engineering
services included surveys, preliminary and final plans, and construction
engineering.
Wellfield Evaluation
Commonfields of Cahokia, Illinois
Hurst-Rosche evaluated the feasibility to the construction of a wellfield
and treatment plant for the water district. A test well was drilled and
tested for quantity and quality. |
