Hillsboro Water Treatment Plant
City of Hillsboro
Hillsboro, IL

Hurst-Rosche Engineers, Inc. designed and provided construction inspection/ administration services for the rehabilitation of the 1924 municipal water treatment plant. This plant has been idle for over twenty years. Hurst-Rosche was given the assignment to bring it back to life. EPA permitting was required for new filter underdrains, granular activated carbon (GAC) filter material, chemical feed equipment, programmable filter controls, all pumping (raw and finished), and underground clearwell and related piping.

The treatment plant was upgraded from 2 million gallons per day to 3.5 million gallons per day. The total project cost was $1.7 million which included substantial amounts of underground contamination cleanup work.
